Our animals are raised mainly on pasture with very little supplementation. They receive loose minerals and access to an all-natural 20% Protein Block from FRM. This winter I didn't have to feed any hay to the herd. I've put my money into my pastures so that I have grasses and legumes growing in both warm and cool seasons. Here in Georgia summertime proves to be our most challenging season.
I do fecal tests to determine when the herd needs to be dewormed again. I've been in the process of learning to do my own fecals using the McMaster's Method of eggs/gram. I've included pictures of these common eggs on the last two pages. There is also a diagram of the life cycle of the Haemonchus C.
